Public Speaking at MOE Schools, Preschools, and Institutions: Celebrating Our 2024 Partnerships with Speech Academy Asia

At Speech Academy Asia, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow into a confident, expressive communicator. In 2024, we had the privilege of partnering with an ever-growing list of schools and educational institutions across Singapore—helping students, teachers, and even parents discover the joy of public speaking and effective communication. From Primary Schools and Secondary Schools to Preschools, Polytechnics, and beyond, here’s a look at the wonderful collaborations and meaningful moments we’ve enjoyed this year.

Empowering Primary School Students

1. St. Gabriel’s Primary School

We received heartwarming feedback from teachers who attended our workshop. Students were thrilled to learn new ways to spice up their speeches with facial expressions, hand gestures, and creative content—all while having a blast.

2. Kheng Cheng School

The P3s, P4s, and P5s showcased boundless energy in our public speaking workshop. They immersed themselves wholeheartedly in brainstorming sessions and group speeches, learning how to work as a team while honing their presentation skills.

3. Chua Chu Kang Primary School

• Confidence in Class: Through hands-on coaching and interactive activities, students learned to project their voices with clarity and confidence. Teachers noted how structured speaking practice boosts critical thinking and personal development.

• Visit to the Active Ageing Centre: Beyond the classroom, students applied their communication skills in a real-world setting—conversing with senior citizens, playing games, and even singing songs together. The visit demonstrated that strong communication bridges generations and fosters meaningful connections.

• PEER Support Leaders Programme: The Chua Chu Kang Primary School participants shone in role-playing scenarios, exploring ways to support friends going through tough times. By using empathy and effective listening, these budding peer leaders learned how to be a source of comfort and guidance to their classmates.

4. PEER Support Leaders Programme at Chongzheng Primary School

We had the privilege of facilitating ice-breaker activities and leadership exercises for Chongzheng Primary School’s Peer Support Leaders. Up on their feet from the get-go, students discovered how team-building games and active collaboration pave the way for stronger, more supportive peer relationships.

Spotlight on the 1st Mental Wellness Symposium & Peer Support Leaders

The 1st Mental Wellness Symposium brought together various schools with a shared mission: to bolster students’ emotional resilience and mental health awareness. Speech Academy Asia was honored to contribute by highlighting how effective public speaking can be a vital tool for stress management and confidence-building.

About Peer Support Leaders

The importance of Peer Support Leaders became clear during the pandemic, when students’ mental health was impacted by lockdowns, social distancing, and home-based learning. According to Second Minister for Education Indranee Rajah, by 2022, all schools would have a support structure made up of students, encouraging them to help one another. Selected Peer Support Leaders take a more active role in looking out for their peers, helping them understand mental health issues, and guiding them to seek help when needed.

During the symposium, our trainers demonstrated how communication skills—such as positive self-expression and empathetic listening—can foster stronger emotional well-being. Through interactive sessions, teachers and students discovered that honing presentation and conversation skills can reduce social anxieties, encourage supportive relationships, and ultimately cultivate a healthier learning environment.

Engaging Secondary School Learners

1. Kranji Secondary School

At our Public Speaking Workshop for Kranji Secondary School, students worked toward a culminating presentation competition—building up their research skills and creativity. We were thrilled to present the Gold Award to the most outstanding student teams who showcased remarkable eloquence, poise, and confidence on stage.

2. Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School

A big thank you to the students of Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School, who embodied positive attitudes and an eagerness to learn during our public speaking workshop. We hope they continue to utilize vocal projection, well-structured content, and effective body language for sharper, more impactful presentations in the future.

3. Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah

We were delighted to witness a range of amazing individual and group presentations on diverse topics at Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah. Utilizing the B.E.S.T. (Body language, Eye contact, Speech structure, and Tone) techniques, students demonstrated confidence and creativity. We look forward to seeing them grow as public speakers in school, community, and beyond.

Enhancing Communication Skills in Tertiary Education

• ITE College Central

We had the pleasure of conducting a public speaking workshop at ITE College Central, where students practiced both teamwork and communication skills. From purposeful hand gestures to a confident smile, participants gained a deeper appreciation for how small but deliberate actions can captivate an audience and enhance overall presentation quality.

• Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Chemical and Life Sciences

Even older students benefit greatly from communication training, as speaking and presentation skills become increasingly critical in tertiary education and the workforce. We shared practical tips for engaging an audience, structuring key messages, and delivering content with clarity and passion—skills that will serve students as they progress into their professional careers.
