Missed this year’s EAE? Start preparing now.
If you’ve just missed this year’s Early Admission Exercise (EAE) window but are thinking of applying next year, now is the best time to start honing your communication and presentation skills. EAE is more than just grades, it’s about demonstrating who you are and what you can bring to the course. At Speech Academy Asia, we help students build that confidence and showcase their strengths through public speaking and real-world presentation training.
Whether you’re planning ahead or gearing up for the next cycle, here’s what you need to know.
What is the EAE?
The Early Admission Exercise (EAE) gives final-year ITE, N- and O-Level students, and even working adults the chance to receive conditional offers for ITE or polytechnic courses before their national exam results are released. It focuses on your aptitude, passion, and practical strengths, rather than solely academic performance. Read the official MOE announcement here.

Selection Criteria: It’s About More Than Grades
EAE applications are evaluated holistically, focusing on:
- Aptitude and interest in your chosen course
- Portfolios, interviews, and aptitude tests
- Relevant work experience for adult applicants
This makes EAE especially suitable for students in speech, communication, broadcasting, and related areas, where practical talent and verbal clarity truly matter.
Why Choose EAE?
Secure your preferred course early and reduce exam-related stress
- Demonstrate real passion through speeches, videos, and relevant experiences
- Stand out even if your grades aren’t perfect by showing initiative and confidence
- Make informed decisions about your educational path in advance
Tips for Prospective Speech Academy Applicants
- Build a strong portfolio: record speeches, hosting gigs, or presentation clips
- Practise for interviews and tests: focus on articulation, clarity, and natural delivery
- Gain speaking experience: join competitions, volunteer, or take on leadership roles
- Familiarise yourself with Minimum Entry Requirements (MERs) and course requirements: always check official ITE and polytechnic websites
Important Considerations
Accepting an EAE offer commits you to that course and you won’t be eligible for other admissions rounds
- You must still meet the minimum academic entry requirements
- Be thorough in preparing both your application materials and your performance at interviews or assessments
