ABOUT SPEAK UP! KIDS COMPETITION
Speak Up! Kids is Singapore’s first national public speaking competition for primary level students. Organised by Speech Academy Asia and Sphere Exhibits, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings, this competition serves as a public speaking platform for the young.
In this competition, contestants may take part in any of the two categories available:
Novice: This category is open to students who are new to Public Speaking and have not participated in any speaking competition during their school terms.
Pro: This category will be more challenging as it is open to experienced speakers who have participated in at least one public speaking related competition during their school terms.
Each team must consist of three contestants within the ages of (7 to 8) or (9 to 10) or (11 to 12). Upon registration, contestants will be provided with a 2 hours public speaking workshop at the respective schools to learn various public speaking skills; to prepare the contestants for the competition. The contestants will then be required to submit a one minute video to showcase applied public speaking techniques acquired during the workshop. A total of 45 teams with the best video submissions will be chosen to deliver their speeches on stage in the Semi-Finals.
The top 24 teams will then progress to the Finals, presenting in front of a live audience. The finals will be held at The Kidz Academy on 9th, 10th and 11th June 2017 a family-themed event organised by Sphere Exhibits.
